Reflective Insulation Characteristics
- Foil insulation requires and air space on the reflective side to perform (at least 20mm minimum)
- Better summer insulation (R1.5) than winter insulation (R0.5)
Reflective Insulation Limitations
- Upward facing foil surface will have its reflectivity severely impaired by dust, which settles over a period of time
- Aluminium will corrode/discolour over time if it is subject to a hostile atmosphere or environment
- Excessive heat can delaminate the foil from the base paper core.
